بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
 السلام عليكم

It has been scientifically proved that diet plays a major role in controlling the levels of blood pressure. But before expatiating on low blood pressure diet it is imperative to know something about low blood pressure (Hypotension).

Blood pressure is a pressure applied to thearteries, within your body, by the bloodstream as your heart pumps the blood through your body. Generally, when the blood pressure goes down the normal range of blood pressure, you are said to have low blood pressure. But what is a normal blood pressure? There are no fixed parameters for normal blood pressure. This is because blood pressure varies from people to people. 120/80 mm/Hg is considered as normal blood pressure reading.

Symptoms may include:
  • Blurry vision
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Light-headedness
  • Sleepiness
  • Weakness

Is low blood pressure bad for your health?

People who have lower blood pressures have a lower risk of stroke, kidney disease, and heart disease. Athletes, people whoexercise regularly, people who maintain ideal body weight, and non-smokers tend to have lower blood pressures. Therefore, low blood pressure is desirable as long as it is not low enough to cause symptoms and damage to the organs in the body. Controlling blood pressure is important because a high or a low blood pressure can prove fatal. One way to control blood pressureis by controlling what you eat.

Nutrients:
Low blood pressure is generally caused by malnutrition. So, eating a proper diet, rich in protein, vitamin B complex, and vitamin C is extremely essential. Particularly, pantothenic acid has been found to be very beneficial in the treatment and prevention of low blood pressure.

Drink more water and less alcohol:
Drink as many glasses of water as you can and avoid the consumption of alcohol. Alcohol is dehydrating agent and can lower your blood pressure thus.

Eat small, low carbohydrate meals:
You should eat small portions of low carbohydrate meals several times a day. This will prevent the development of low bloodpressure. Also restrict the intake of high-carbohydrate foods to prevent low blood pressure.

Salt:
The use of salt is valuable in low blood pressure. Until the blood pressure reaches normal levels through proper dietary and otherremedies, it is essential that you take salty foods and half a teaspoon of salt in water daily.

Fruits:
A fruit diet should be a part of the treatment regimen for you. Fruits help raise your blood pressure. If you take milk along with fruits, it would be an added advantage.

Remember, diet alone can help you fight this condition. Exercising along will fasten the results!
